“Maybe Christmas, he thought…doesn’t come from a shop. Maybe Christmas, perhaps…means a tiny bit far more.” -The Grinch
It’s that time of yr. December has come and it’s time for all the joys of the season. I’ve often been the type of individual that helps make bread for the neighbors, pals and family members, or a plate of cookies for them at Christmas. I’ve never ever been a lot of a shopper. And a shopper at holiday times when each and every retailer all around is 5 instances as crowded, there is no parking, and absolutely everyone is in a hurry and cranky. No thank you!
I’d much rather sit at residence with the holiday music taking part in, a glass of wine in hand, searching even though cookbooks, obtaining outdated favorites and seeking out new recipes to attempt. I then make my checklist of recipients and I let the baking begin. There is one thing so satisfying about this to me. I’m performing what I really like, for the loved ones in my daily life. And they normally really like the gift of meals. It’s a win/win unless the loved ones in my existence are on a diet program this time of year! Let’s be honest…there is absolutely nothing minimal fat, gluten free of charge, or diminished calories in my holiday baking.
This 12 months I made a decision to whip up my twelve days of Christmas cookies and candies for the loved ones. It’s a mix of outdated favored recipes, and a couple of new ones I haven’t attempted just before. Day one particular is an outdated favourite from my teenage many years, known as Specific K Bars. And when I say outdated, I mean I located the recipe shoved in a Betty Croker cookbook on a piece of paper, typed, with what seems to be peanut butter stains on it. Not that I’m saying I’m previous, but we all know the existence cycle of a typewriter. Do they even exist any longer? So for clarification, I know the recipe is old, there was no mention of me being outdated.
These Special K bars are super basic to make. And the taste of the butterscotch chips blended with chocolate chips on top of the peanut butter and sugars are just tasty. Cut them up into 1 inch squares and bundle them in a Christmas tin or serve them on an low-cost vacation plate, and they make a fantastic gift. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do, and be sure to save a number of for oneself.
